Job Purpose
 

We are seeking a skilled Testing & Commissioning Engineer with hands-on experience in Iridium, KNX, and HDL automation systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for the configuration, programming, testing, and commissioning of smart home and building automation solutions. This role demands strong technical knowledge, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure project success.

Description of Tasks
 

Pre-Commissioning Preparation

  • Review system design documents, control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Verify device installation against project drawings and specifications.
  • Prepare programming tools and ensure all firmware and software are up to date (ETS for KNX, HDL BusPro software, Iridium Studio/Pro).

Device Programming & Configuration

  • Assign physical addresses and configure KNX and HDL devices on-site.
  • Develop and upload control logic using ETS (KNX), HDL software, and Iridium mobile
    platforms.
  • Create and customize user interfaces for Iridium control panels and mobile apps.

System Integration

  • Integrate third-party systems such as HVAC, AV, access control, and lighting with KNX/HDL.
  • Implement logic linking different systems through IP gateways or interfaces (e.g., KNXIP
    routers, RS232, IR modules).

Testing & Validation

  • Conduct point-to-point testing for all I/O devices.
  • Verify the functionality of scenes, schedules, sensors, and manual overrides.
  • Execute end-to-end system testing, including fail-safes, error logs, and response times.

Troubleshooting & Rectification

  • Identify and resolve programming or connectivity issues on-site.
  • Support the replacement or reconfiguration of faulty devices.
  • Liaise with technical support or suppliers if advanced troubleshooting is required.

System Documentation

  • Prepare commissioning checklists and testing reports.
  • Update red-marked drawings and device schedules to reflect actual installation.
  • Submit final programming files, as-built documentation, and backups for archiving.

Client Handover & Support

  • Provide client demonstrations and training sessions.
  • Prepare operation manuals and quick-reference guides for end users.
  • Offer technical support during the defect liability period (DLP) or as needed post handover.

Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with site engineers, project managers, and electricians during commissioning.
  • Attend internal and client meetings to report progress and resolve site challenges.
  • Ensure work complies with project timelines, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Perform testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of KNX, HDL, and Iridium-based automation systems.
  • Program and configure devices ,including lighting, HVAC, curtain/blind controls, audio/video, security, and access systems.
  • Load and validate ETS (KNX), HDL BusPro, and Iridium Pro configurations on-site.
  • Coordinate with project and design teams to ensure accurate implementation of wiring diagrams, control logic, and system architecture.
  • Conduct site inspections, loop checks, and device addressing as per project specifications.
  • Provide technical documentation, commissioning reports, and red-marked as-built drawings.
  • Support project handover, client demonstrations, and basic end-user training.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers for troubleshooting and product updates.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards on-site.

  • Knowledge of IoT architectures, communication protocols (MQTT, REST APIs), and integration with cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, etc.).
  • Familiarity with HVAC control principles, lighting systems, and energy management solutions.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (MS Project, Jira, Trello, or equivalent).
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word / Excel / PowerPoint).
  • Strong coordination skills to work with third-party teams, ensuring smooth collaboration and timely completion of project deliverables.

  • Conduct project initiation, requirements gathering, and scope definition for IoT and Niagara-based solutions.
  • Prepare project plans, timelines, budgets, and allocate resources effectively.
  • Manage integration of IoT platforms, devices, and Niagara Framework into existing infrastructure.

Engineer is responsible for the design, programming, integration, testing, operation, and maintenance of Niagara-based Building Management Systems (BMS), including associated software, hardware, and field devices.

Description of Tasks

  • Site surveys for BMS projects.
  • Niagara system programming and configuration.
  • BMS integration with third-party systems via BACnet, Modbus, or other protocols.
  • Field device installation and commissioning (controllers, sensors, actuators, meters, etc.).
  • BMS graphics creation and configuration.
  • Niagara station and database creation, backup, and restoration.
  • System testing, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and optimization of Niagara-based systems.
  • Read and interpret AutoCAD drawings efficiently, with a basic working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Coordinate with customers, consultants, and contractors for project requirements, site visits, and progress meetings.
  • Understand client needs and explain system capabilities and integration options.
  • Develop and deploy Niagara stations, logic, and user interfaces according to project specifications.
